CONFIRMED: Cardinals Switch Whitey Herzog Patch to a stitched patch

Good news! I got word back from the Cardinals that indeed the Herzog patch has been upgraded. The head of the Cardinals Creative Services department told me, “I got confirmation that we are doing a stitched patch. And in looking at some photos from last night, it does appear that they are on the jerseys.”

Nice! What tipped me off about these patches when watching the game on Saturday was the way the sleeve fabric was acting.

With the iron-on vinyl thin patch the originally started with, it would bend and contort along with whatever way the sleeve also was bending and contorting.

However, a stitched patch has much more weight and more rigidity when it’s on the sleeve. The sleeve fabric may bend but the patch will not. It’s subtle to see it on TV, but if you look closely you should also be able to tell. And now we have direct confirmation from the Cardinals. Cool!
