I guess we shouldn’t be surprised at their inabilities anymore. Last week the Cardinals played the Dodgers in Los Angeles and did not wear their Victory Blue road alternates on Saturday. That’s because Nike and Fanatics is incapable of producing and delivering the uniform sets the Cardinals prefer to wear.
Today is no different, the Cardinals will play the first Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium in 2024 with the white uniforms instead of the cream colored alternates. We could also say, This year is no different, as this is the third consecutive season in which the Cardinals have not been able to wear their alternate uniforms at the start of the season. Rumors around the internet are stating that the alternates (and some other team’s City Connects) won’t be ready until the middle of June. Yikes.
As we posted last week, I’m beginning to believe that Nike set up this “streamlined” 4+1 rule because they knew how inept their production is. Nike is telling us, “You’re only allowed to have 4 uniforms plus we’re going to force a City Connect design on you. Oh also, we really only have the production skill to manufacture your white and gray uniforms for the first month or two of the season. We know that your brand requires that you wear alternate jerseys on Saturdays, but we just can’t make that happen. Tough, deal with it, fuck your brand.”

Well, MLB, you got your $ billion dollars, so what are you b!tching about?
