Cardinals Wear BBHoF Cap Patch for Induction Weekend

In the opening game of the 2nd half today, the Cardinals wore patches of the National Baseball Hall of Fame logo on the sides of their caps, presumably for Induction Weekend which is taking place this weekend in Cooperstown.

It is also relevant to note that today is Saturday and the Cardinals are playing on the road. Normally that means the team would be wearing their Victory Blue alternate uniforms, but because of the rainout last night and playing the makeup game today as apart of a double header, we can probably assume the Cardinals will wear blue in the second game of the double header.

And how about a bonus for Induction Weekend: This weekend’s inductees at Cooperstown are Adrian Beltré, Todd Helton, Joe Mauer, and Jim Leyland.

How and why is that notable to the Cardinals? Jim Leyland has been a long time friend of Tony La Russa, and the two managers faced each other in the 2006 World Series. Also check out this rare photo of three legends with TLR and Jim Leyland in full Cardinals uniforms hanging out with Bobby Knight wearing a Cardinals cap. Photo from RetroSimba. Awesome stuff.
