And that’s a wrap for Cardinal baseball in 2024. The new 2024 database page is now live, you can check it out at the following link:

Lots of notable uniform changes happened this year. Most notably is the new Nike uniforms. During Spring Training there was a strong outcry from both fans and players against the quality and changes made to the uniforms. Nike implemented a new template of how the jersey was put together, which is objectively less attractive than previous year jerseys.
The Birds on the Bat were replaced for the Birds on the Patch, marking the first time in over 100 years that the Birds were not chainstitch embroidered directly onto the jersey fabric. Speaking of chainstitch embroidery, only the red and yellow portions of the Birds on the Bat logo were chainstitched, while the blue outlines were done with satin stitch embroidery.
The Birds on the Patch was disgustingly noticeable, with the outlines of the patch causing heavy shadows around the logo, making it very clear that Nike opted for the cheaper and uglier way to do things. Hey Nike, maybe we didn’t want the cheap ugly option.
Speaking of cheap, ugly, and disgustingly noticeable, the fabric of the shirt and pants did not match. And while that was the case for every uniform, it was especially ugly and noticeable on the color of the gray uniforms. When players would sweat through their jersey, the shirts became even more ugly and even more disgustingly noticeable.
Despite all of this outcry, Nike and Fanatics tried to throw each other under the bus, with both sides claiming they were doing everything that was told of them and they’re still getting the shit kicked out of them. I will never be done shit kicking these cheap, ugly, disgustingly noticeable uniforms until it’s fixed.
Let the dogpile continue! Nike also changed the player’s names on the back of the uniform, opting for much smaller letters with a more radical arch across the back. This was noticeably ugly, and was not well received by fans and players alike.
I’M NOT FINISHED SHIT TALKING. Nike and Fanatics’ inabilities continued into the regular season, and the Cardinals were not able to wear their cream Saturday home alternates until May 18, and their blue Saturday road alternates until June 1.
As of September 29, 2024, Nike is worth $134 billion. So please, I’d love to hear more excuses.
