Cardinals @ Washington this afternoon featured Mother’s Day attire, but much less than previous seasons. Aside from bats, shoes, catcher’s gear, batting gloves, pads, armbands, and all the other junk the players wear these days, the only pink uniform elements from the big manufactures were the Stance socks. NewEra did not push any pink caps, nor did Nike/Fanatics foist any desecrations upon the shirts, other than the pink breast cancer ribbons that have been worn on the chest for many years now.
So the only thing to really discuss is the Stance socks, which were sickly pale in color, and frankly looked pretty bad on today’s broadcast. So I checked out some official gear being sold, and the official studio pictures looked just as bad to me. The only silver lining, (gray lining in this case), is that the studio shots look better showing the sock’s full stripe pattern in contrast to how Mikolas was wearing them. Take a look at the photo below, the gray pants running straight into the gray portion of the socks is not a good look. I thought Mother’s Day was all about pink color, why is gray being used at all?
