Cardinals pitchers have been seen wearing uniforms in Jupiter this past week, and one good thing that has happened is that Nike has now switched back to the old Majestic style shirt template. It has a wider placket down the front of the shirt, no extra sun collar seams, AND it even fixed our button spacing! The next thing that we have yet to see… presumably-hopefully we’ll see that the two alternate uniforms have switched back to standard braid sleeve piping instead of the polo shirt sleeve extensions they’ve had for the past couple years. So that’s the good news…
The bad news is that the Birds on the Patch has returned. The Cardinals logo might be chain stitched, but it’s done so on a patch externally, and then applied to the uniform, showing really ugly outlines around the Birds on the Bat, making our uniforms look cheap and lame.
Let’s put things into perspective here. After have the tiny Majestic era birds from 2003-2012, the organization got Majestic to fix the stitching technique. From 2013 to 2023 we had the best version of the Birds on the Bat. The logo was chain-stitch embroidered directly onto the uniform, the birds were large, they looked like our logo, it was a glorious 11 seasons. Nike then decided to FAFO. In 2024 the Birds on the Bat were replaced with the Birds on the Patch for their shitty new uniform templates that were noisily eviscerated across all of MLB by media, fans, and players. Nike heard the complaints and made minor fixes in 2025, and now in 2026, we’re left with the same ugly Birds on the Patch. This entire fiasco amounted to nothing good. Our uniforms got a major downgrade because of corporate bullshit.
