This site is made independently for the sole purpose of education and information. This project is solely for sharing information, research, attempting to make new discoveries, and set the historical record straight.

Often times in baseball, and other sports for that matter, we see historical logos and imagery that are inaccurate, complete fabrications, or some combination of the two. Our goal with this website is to share our many years of research in order to show people the accurate depictions of these logos and uniforms.

The St. Louis Cardinals franchise has a rich tradition of uniforms and logos that has had constant evolutions and changes since the beginnings of the franchise in 1882. It is our mission to research and document those many features and changes, year by year.

Most importantly, we continue to seek historical resources that allow us to be accurate, as well as document the full range of uniforms and graphics worn in each season, from the 1882 Brown Stockings up to the current Cardinals. If you have any information, corrections that we should make, comments, concerns, etc, please feel free to reach out, we’d love to talk. https://cardinalsuniformsandlogos.com/contact/

This project began around 2010, when we began researching and drawing older uniform graphics to catalog and use as artwork to hang in and around Busch Stadium. That project lasted for and was completed in about 3 years. Around 2013, when we stood back to look at the body of work, we came to some conclusions. One, this small collections of drawings was just the tip of the iceberg. Two, the drawings themselves are being used out of context, and that they would look best if applied to a full uniform drawing. Three, we had many missing gaps in the research. So we dove back into the research. We complied a large trove of historical photos, newspaper clippings, and physical artifacts to help corroborate our research and fill in missing gaps. And then we came to another conclusion, that we should publish all of our work in a book, similar to Marc Okkonen’s book, Baseball Uniforms of the 20th Century. Our book was published in 2016, called Cardinals Uniforms and Logos: An Illustrated History 1882-2016. However, despite how great the book was, and how much good reviews and awards we received for it, print media is static, and can not be updated or modified. That led to the creation of this website. We hope you find it informational, enjoyable, and authentic.
