Happy Opening Day in St. Louis. This morning the Cardinals made an instagram post, and the final image in that post may have some telling signs as to what we can expect for the City Connect uniforms. So let the speculation begin.
Here is the image we are talking about..
There are a few elements that we think are likely. Starting from the top.
Looking at the top left, to the left of the bird’s head. It says, FOR THE LOU. We think this phrase or something similar, like THE LOU, will be the featured graphic on the front of the jersey.
Looking at the top right, to the right of the bird’s head. It has two little squiggly rivers, obviously taken from the flag of St. Louis. This may be used as some sort of piping pattern on the uniforms, maybe at the end of the sleeves? Maybe a surprise pinstriping with that pattern?
Looking below the uniform, BASEBALL HEAVEN. Other teams that have participated in City Connect have used local slogans or things that relate the team’s city. Baseball Heaven is a very common moniker for Cardinals Baseball, so we wouldn’t be surprised if that phrase can be found somewhere on the uniform.
Looking at the very bottom right, there are two logos. One is a fleur de lis, which is again very obviously taken from the flag of St. Louis. Expect to see that as a sleeve patch, maybe even the main graphic on the caps?
The other logo is a skyline silhouette of St. Louis. Not sure if that’s a custom graphic or not. It’s the only mark we couldn’t quickly recreate.
