We have a newspaper description that corroborates the merging of the clubs, and describes a rather plain looking uniform with mix-matched elements from both clubs. We have estimated what the cap, shirt, and overall uniform may have looked liked based on research done by Craig Brown.

The new uniforms of the home club were favorably commented on. They consist of white hats trimmed with brown, such as the Athletics of Philadelphia used to wear, white flannel shirts, drab pants and red stockings. The team will be known in future as the St. Louis Red Stockings, the management having decided that such a course will be better for all parties interested.
