In 1929, we think the Cardinals road uniforms had red beaks. The Birds on the Bat design is similar to the home uniforms, but photography has proven they were stitched slightly different and the birds have different body shapes. Photography and physical samples that survive today of the 1929 home uniform clearly have yellow beaks. But we have no physical samples of the road uniform, just black and white photography. Consistently, these black and white photographs appear to show red beaked birds.
History Mysteries:

Why were the home birds yellow beaked and the road birds red beaked?
Is there a physical sample of the 1929 road jersey?
Is the black and white photography playing tricks?
