On April 14, 2015, the Cardinals wore a patch honoring Red Schoendienst wearing the uniform for over 70 years. Red wore the uniform longer than anyone in history. With the exception of 1957-1960, Red was in a Cardinals uniform from 1945 through 2018 as a player, manager, coach, or other part of the organization. Even in the few years before his passing, Red could be seen wearing full uniform, stirrups and all, hitting fungo at batting practice before every game.
