We think this is from 1924. In the past we had ignored the photograph of Wilson Frog Redus, shown below, thinking it was the same uniform as 1928, but there are little differences. The shape of the jersey placket is different than 1928, the piping down the placket is slightly different, the pants and belt loops are different, and most notably, there is a small Star patch on the left sleeve. However, Frog Redus played with the team from 1924 through 1931, so this photo could also be from any of those seasons.
These uniforms and logos are best approximations based on a scarce number of photographs. Years, colors, logos, and uniform styles have been approximated. We welcome any additional photography and newspaper accounts that will help bring the authentic St. Louis Negro League baseball uniforms back to life.
