The 1942 Cardinals modified their caps this season by going back to an interlocking STL emblem. This STL was now embroidered right into the cap, as opposed to 1940, where the STL appeared to be hand cut from red felt and sewn on to the cap as a patch.
The Cardinals this season also wore a sleeve patch that said HEALTH, for the Hale American Fitness Program.

No New Uniforms For Birds.
There will be no new uniforms in the series for the Redbirds. Breadon said that he had reserved material for them but Southworth thought the club had done so well with the present ones that he didn’t want to make a change. So no change will be made. It has been the custom in the past to use new uniforms for the Series and those worn during the season would serve for the training period in the next year and the Series uniforms for the regular games.
