On August 28, 1999, the Cardinals wore a red jersey. This is the only time in the team’s history that they have worn a red shirt in an official regular season game.

The jerseys featured an MDA patch and were part of a Shirts Off Their Backs promotion. Initially this was supposed to be for Labor Day, but the Cardinals were out of town on Labor Day, so the promotion was held the weekend before their road trip.

    1. we have photos of the jersey after they were worn, notably in Bill Henderson’s game worn guide. But I can’t seem to find any game shots either. I thought I remembered one photo of McGwire playing the field with the red jersey, can’t seem to find it.
